Moving?

So Folks who have been in the Shop of late might wonder about our eventual move. Here is the deal. Our Building belongs to a group of businessmen who own the hotel next door. The Hotel is looking to expand and we with them all the luck. To expand they plan on heading south which means that our building will be destroyed. This is of course only when the raise enough money to get the building off the ground. So we were given an estimate of some time this year that the building might be torn down. Vaguely it was summer time but now it might be fall or it might be not at all. That's how much information we've gotten. So in February we began looking for a potential home for our shop. Let me say this rent in Moab is crazy and all of the commercial spaces like our shop are being transformed into overnight rentals. This leaves us with a couple of options. Move the shop out of town and into the County. This puts us farther away from walking traffic but keeps our checkbook a little safer. Secondly we could buy our own building. Ownership is good but still expensive. Thirdly we could rent in town but away from Main Street. Still expensive but within walking distance. Last we could put the Shop in a "Bookmobile" and travel around the state selling our comics in various towns. We've been working on all of these but not to much fruition. So if you have any ideas let us know.

Our Condolences

The events of this past Friday Morning in Aurora, Colorado are unspeakable tragedy. As the owners of a Comic bookshop we cannot help but feel great sorrow for those innocent victims who thought of nothing more than enjoying a film about Superheroes, something that we and the patrons of our store enjoy greatly. We do not condone violence perpetrated against anyone and we abhor the thought that anyone could believe that they can be a “fan” of comics and become the very villains that the heroes of these comics seek to defeat.
In the coming weeks there will be debate regarding who is at fault for what has came to pass. Fingers will be pointed blaming comic books, video games, gun laws, political parties, and a vast array of scapegoats. Perhaps there will be some merit in the arguments but ultimately we do not exist in a vacuum where only one thing can be the root of such suffering there are more factors than we can know. Instead of turning against one another perhaps each of us should ask what we could do to prevent such tragedy in the future.
Kindness, compassion, a listening ear, an open mind and an open heart all can provide for help those who struggle with depression, anger, anxiety, loneliness, grief and other emotions that are often associated with events of this nature. By reaching out and overcoming that fear that separates us we can prevent such sorrows in our future. In our world today there are few superheroes to save the day; it is left up to us to be the hero. . If you feel that you need someone to talk to, to listen, or just to be a friend please we’d like you to know that we are here for you
Once again our hearts goes out to those victims of this horrific event and their families. We cannot express fully our sorrow that this has happened and only hope that we all might be a force to prevent this type of thing from happening in the future
